Special request from the Michigan Film Office:

Michigan Film Office Winter Locations Campaign

2009 was a rousing success for the Michigan Film Office with 50 productions wrapping during the calendar year. The Michigan Film Office would like to thank those organizations and communities that assisted in growing our locations library. We hope to piggy back off that success and make 2010 a banner year for filmmaking in Michigan.

We see Michigan as a viable state for year-round filming, boasting four spectacular seasons of weather. However, the locations in our database do not accurately capture each of those seasons. That being the case, we are launching our 2010 Winter Locations Campaign in an effort to show filmmakers the splendor of Michigan during our chilly season.

We are interested in seeing everything from your charming tree-lit small town main street to the bustling slushy sidewalks of a big city. We would like to see photos of everything from your kid's local shinny hockey pond to your town's most feared sledding hill, from your freshly groomed black diamond ski hills to your full scale snowboarding half pipe. Do you live near a lake littered with ice fishing shanties? We want to see it. Is there a unique drive-up snow mobile watering hole you're aware of?

We want to see it. Please share photos of anything and everything you can think of that makes Michigan our own personal winter wonderland.

Submitting Winter Photos.
If you have images you wish to upload go to the Michigan Film Office site, insert data in the requested fields and upload your images (in JPEG format). Each listing will be limited to 10 photos at a maximum size of 2 MB per photo. If you have additional photos, or large files please burn them to a disc and send it with the Location Submission Form (see below) to the following mailing address. Michigan Film Office 300 North Washington Square Lansing, MI 48913 Once reviewed and approved, your photos will be added to our library, and will be available for viewing by location professionals worldwide seeking the perfect location for their projects. You will be contacted by the Michigan Film Office if there is interest in using your property for a production. There is no cost to list locations with our office.

The Michigan Film Office is looking for assistance in finding possible locations for film activities.  They are inviting individuals, businesses and municipalities to help find:

Hockey rinks, snowmobile trails, small town bars and saloons, trailer parks, seasonal motel/hotels (must look closed and spooky to be used for a winter movie), desolate Roadside Motels (with no chance of escape), small town diners, closed and empty hospital,

2-3 story empty Department Store (with an escalator), small town family grocery stores, caves or underground tunnels, boxing clubs and event venues (large and small. These could include convention center or warehouse venues), Manhattan or Chicago style Brownstones, radio/television or photography studios, modern and contemporary homes, auto salvage and junkyards, police stations and schools of all types.

To nominate a property, upload up to 10 photos (jpg format, 2MB or less) to http://mi.reel-scout.com/loc_add.aspx>

LOCATION SCOUT: A major film is searching for a large building with an impressive atrium. From within the atrium, views of the levels above should be visible. Several days/weeks of prep and clean-up possible with five very long days of filming planned.

Site control is important, a vacant building (or one that could be vacated on a short-term basis) is best. If you know of such a building , please contact
